We inspect other organisations, referred to as “wider public authorities”, annually or every 2 to 3 years. Wider public authorities include organisations such as the Charity Commission, the Financial Conduct Authority and the Serious Fraud Office. A full list of these authorities can be found at Annex A of our latest Annual Report.
The regularity of our inspections of these organisations depends on the range of powers available to the authority, their level of usage and previous performance. When inspecting wider public authorities, we will consider how they comply with legislation, their own internal policies and the adequacy of their staff training.
