Technology Advisory Panel

The Technology Advisory Panel (TAP) regularly provides advice to the Investigatory Powers Commissioner and his team on a wide range of technical and scientific topics relating to the Investigatory Powers Act (2016).

Advice may be written or verbal and varies in length and detail. Though much of the advice is too sensitive to be published, where possible unclassified versions of the advice will be made available publicly as samples of the type of advice provided to the Investigatory Powers Commissioner.

The Technology Advisory Panel has provided details of their interests to be recorded on IPCO’s register.

25 March 2019

The Investigatory Powers Commissioner agreed a working protocol with Chair of the Technology Advisory Panel Sir Bernard Silverman which sets out the structure and functions of the Panel and the basis of their working relationship with Commissioner’s Office.

The TAP produced a report following the Metrics of Privacy conference in November 2018.
